Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions

"How can talking to a stranger help me?"
It’s a valid question. Therapy can ease anxiety and depression by helping you understand what’s underneath your struggles and by building practical tools to navigate them. Many people notice more clarity, motivation, and ease as they grow these skills.
Therapy also offers space to understand yourself and your relationships more deeply. Together, we explore what feels heavy or stuck and work toward creating the life you want.

At its core, therapy is a conversation where you can talk about what matters most to you without judgment or pressure.
In the first few sessions, we take time to get to know each other, explore your story, identify the areas where you feel stuck, and clarify your initial goals. From there, we create a therapeutic plan that’s tailored to your needs, helping you build the tools and strategies that support you in navigating life’s challenges with greater confidence and ease.

How long therapy takes depends on what you’d like to work on and the goals you set. Short‑term therapy can be helpful for focused, immediate concerns, while longer‑term work supports deeper exploration of yourself and your relationships.
What matters most is consistency. Regular weekly or bi‑weekly sessions create the structure needed to learn new concepts, reflect on them, and build skills that support meaningful change.
Practicing these skills between sessions is equally important. Small, steady shifts often lead to noticeable improvements, such as reduced anxiety, improved mood, and more effective communication.
Most people begin to notice meaningful changes within about three months of consistent therapy

Confidentiality is something I take very seriously. As a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), I am legally and ethically bound to protect your privacy. Everything you share in therapy is kept confidential, and no information is released without a conversation and your consent.
There are a few situations where I am legally required to break confidentiality for safety reasons:
-
If there is serious and imminent risk of harm to yourself or others.
-
If there is risk of harm to a child.
-
If our records have been subpoenaed by a court order.
I value transparency and trust. If I ever need to break confidentiality, we will discuss the situation together and ensure you understand why it is necessary for safety.
